Pausing in downtown San Diego, the Los Angeles based private cars "Overland Trail" and "Pacific Trail" cool their heels in front of the original, ATSF depot here prior to making the trek home to LA later this evening. The "Overland Trail," a 39-seat lounge car built in 1949 for the jointly operated 'San Francisco Overland,' now often finds itself hugging the coast line operating on LARail.com's monthly Vino Train trips. Likewise, the "Pacific Trail," a 44-seat long distance chair car built in 1950 for the Union Pacific, also often finds itself traveling north of Los Angeles on the Vino Train. Today, however, the two cars have been charted for a wedding party that has charted the cars for the weekend as they enjoy the sights and sounds of San Diego.
