Engineer Ray Thomas, occupying the right seat of NS 2575, slowly maneuvers U47 and its empties along the ex-IRR's Appalachia-Norton main and by the wye at Kent Junction. Once the rear of U47 clears the wye's east switch, the pushers (J76), waiting on the wye's east leg, will ease down to a coupling and then lead the empty train up the Pardee Branch. Thus, this maneuver places the road power on the head end for loading at Cumberland River Coal, located near the end of the branch.
