Remarks & Notes |
Southern Caboose? This caboose rests on what once was the Charleston-Hamburg line (on which the Best Friend of Charleston ran) constructed through Branchville in 1832. The line ultimately was removed by Southern/Norfolk Southern in the 1980s. The steel caboose is painted in Southern colors, but is actually Nickel Plate Caboose 766 built in 1953. Southern X-2255 was a wooden caboose built in the early 1900s. The color scheme generally is correct, except that Southern should be in yellow and not white lettering. |
