Two of the four slant-nosed E6s that were delivered to the Illinois Central in 1941 lasted until the coming of Amtrak, and they earned premier assignments until the end. IC E6s 4001 and 4003, sandwiched by an E8B, paused at Homewood, IL, with the southbound Panama Limited on a summer evening in 1969. Shortly they'll be doing 90mph on the IC's racewasy.
