“Fresh Air” The conductor of the “East End Local” (B829), with Chessie System/B&O GP38 2047 (CSX#), gets some fresh air and conducts a “roll by” inspection of R171 (Orange Blossom Special South), while the local is being held on Track 2 at Rossville for the priority westbound TOFC to clear the interlocking, on July 3, 1987. Note the SBD transfer caboose in Family Lines paint on the R171.
B&O 2047 is the former B&O 3847. It’s received new black-on-white number boards, reflecting incorporation into the CSX numbering scheme, but no new paint and no CSXT reporting mark.
