Remarks & Notes
An empty Dump Train passes through the cut in Fork Ridge separating "downtown" Appalachia from the "Intermont" section of Appalachia. In the late 1800s, construction of a double track tunnel through the ridge by the L&N for use by both the L&N and SA&O resulted in legal action when the SA&O couldn't pay its portion of the construction costs.
