Skirting the shore of San Pablo Bay on June 17, 2017, is Amtrak train 738, a San Jose to Sacramento Capitol Corridor train, passing through a tidal marsh as it heads east. Power for this train consists of Amtrak GE P42DC 186 and new Siemens SC-44 “Charger” (CDTX 2103), which is breaking in before entering service. Presumably, when the “Charger” goes into service, these trains will cease using P42DCs.
