The Amtrak "Vermonter" (Train 55) is twice as interesting with 2 Siemens ACS-64s (660/605) on the point. This train originates in St. Albans, VT, changes its diesel for electric power in New Haven, CT, and at about 6:45pm on 6/22/2017 is a few minutes out of New York Penn Station as it crosses the Hell Gate Bridge by Icahn Stadium. It will end its day in Washington DC.
The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.
The Northeast Corridor cuts through four New York counties on its brief stretch to the Connecticut Line east of Port Chester. There are several photo opportunities along the route.
