On July 1, 2017, a westbound BNSF coal train follows the Missouri River past the ghost townsite of Lombard, Montana. The train is entering Lombard siding and passing Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension main line bridge over the Missouri that once also spanned Montana Rail Link’s former NP/BN main line on a now-removed through girder bridge. The Milwaukee Road had a pretty good horseshoe curve here, allowing it to enter Sixteen Mile Canyon heading east, seen on the left.
