Norfolk Southern History. A lot of NS history is represented in this shot. The Virginian, which represents a predecessor line, brings a daily autorack through Alston on its way to the Port in Charleston, SC. This shot was taken at the location of what once was the junction between the Southern's W-Line, which headed up through Spartanburg and the Saluda Grade, and the V-Line, which headed past Peak, Pomaria, Prosperity, and ultimately Greenville. All of the V-Line through here has been abandoned, except for a small portion near Prosperity, and has been turned into a Rails-to-Trails segment of the Palmetto Trail.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
