| At the end of another gorgeous day in Lombard Canyon on July 2, 2017, a BNSF coal train enters the siding at Lombard on Montana Rail Link. The Missouri River is calm as the canyon settles in for another quiet night as the some of the day’s last sunlight paints colors on the high points. This train is passing the abandoned Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension bridge and horseshoe curve located here at the ghost townsite of Lombard. In the foreground is a curvy dirt road that finally was built into Lombard in 1930. |
