Soon after the New York, Susquehanna & Western revitalized its main line to Sparta Junction, New Jersey, and also rejuvenated the newly-acquired former L&HR mainline between Sparta Junction and the New York state line, it ran an inspection trop for officials and key dignitaries. The train’s only car was the theater car with a huge single-pane window and tiered seating at the rear of the car. F45 6370 provided the power, and its repainting from BN to NYS&W colors had occurred finished just hours before the trip began. The trip went as far west as Maybrook, New York on the new routing, and returned over Conrail’s former Erie main line, over which the Susquehanna had trackage rights. Here the special is on the famed Moodna Viaduct at Salisbury Mills, New York.
