Valentine’s Day 2009, Mother Nature brought some snowfall as did the Union Pacific. Donner has always been an obsession of mine since I was 18 when someone said " you don't want to go there, too much snow". Since then I have done my best to photograph Donner every Winter when conditions are at it's worst. The railroad and the weather put on a great show. This particular shot is no exception and is no longer possible. Today the spreaders work in tandem working Westbound and some of those trees are in need of a good trimming. In what became one of my obsessed upon photos I was able to get a few good views here before operations changed. In this shot the spreader puts on a fantastic show clearing the rails over the lower cascade crossing.
