The summit of Mount Washington sits 6288' above sea level and is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States. On April 12th, 1934 the highest winds ever recorded in the on the face of the Earth were recorded at the weather station on the summit at 231 miles per hour. The cog railway which its an engineering marvel. Here the first section of the 12:30 train makes the final descent, just a few hundred yards from the summit. |
