Seeing a trio of 3 SD40's has become a rarity on Pan Am, as the recent aquisition of ex-CSX Dash 8-40C's have become the new regime. Impressive to see these guys still working hard, especially as this POSE is 106 cars long; weighing in at a steep 11,500 tons.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
