Remarks & Notes |
Under the Bridge
Autorack 27N rolls under the Old US 220 Overpass at Grazierville, about halfway from Tyrone to Tipton. When the road was expanded in the late 1930s, this bridge was built to carry what was then the major north-south highway thru Blair County over a very busy 4 track mainline rather than a grade crossing. In the intervening decades, road traffic has been diverted to the Tyrone Bypass (now part of Interstate 99) and the mainline reduced to 3 tracks (really 2 tracks and a 12 mile long siding). |
