Remarks & Notes |
As the sun is about to disappear behind the hills, former Deutsche Reichsbahn bauriehe 52 'Kriegsklok' No 52 4867 passes the Oxenturm (Ox Tower) at Oberwesel with a special train returning from Brohl to Frankfurt as the paddle boat 'Goethe' rounds a bend in the River Rhine. This engine was built by Maschinenbau Und Bahnbedarf AG (Formerly Orenstein Und Koppel) in 1943 for the German war effort. After the war it was taken over by the Austrian Federal Railway who sold it to the Graz Koflacher Bahn in 1970. Withdrawn at the end of 1980 it was preserved by the Historische Eisenbahn Frankfurt or HEF in 1985 and received a new boiler at RAW Meiningen in 2003. |
