Remarks & Notes
At the isolated location of Eagle Nest, AZ, an eastbound Santa Fe manifest comes out of a rock cut on the Williams Crookton Line Change, which the railroad built in 1960. The new line has gentle curves compared to those on the steep former line through Johnson Canyon.

The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
