With things working as usual in the Piedmont, 338 sat in Rock Hill for nearly three hours before finally making a move toward Charlotte. With dusk rapidly approaching, my options for a decently lit shot were quickly dwindling. Every bridge I had planned on shooting had nice long shadows cast over the middle of the bridge, and a head-on shot was out of the question with the horrendous back lighting. It wasn't ideal, but I ended up settling for a pan in Kannapolis.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
