Late on a beautiful afternoon in July 1989, a hot Santa Fe pig train roars through Gately on the railroad's Stockton Sub. In the distance are the hills that surround Franklin Canyon, and at center-left is SP's Cal-P line between Sacramento and the Bay Area.
