When large loads need to be moved, the heavy duty flatcar does the trick. This 230 ton capacity flatcar built in May of 2001 at the TTX Augusta, Georgia plant has a 27’ long depressed center which makes easy work hauling this expensive load. The depressed center helps ensure the load meets clearance issues along the route as well as lowering its center of gravity. Tonight’s load is an Auto Transformer built by Hyundai Power Transformer at their Montgomery, Alabama plant in November of 2017. This 200 ton piece of electrical equipment cost $15,000,000.00 and awaits pick up by NS at the CSX-NS transfer yard in Opelika.
