After making its station stop at Brockville, Ontario, VIA Rail combined Trains 44/54 the eastbound Lakeshore, has pulled clear of the grade crossing, and has dropped the last four cars on the main. Now separated as two different trains, Train 44 to Ottawa is beginning its journey north on the Canadian Pacific branch from Smiths Falls. As soon as the Ottawa train is clear, the power visible over the first car of Train 44 will couple onto the four cars left on the main, and Train 54 can depart for Montreal.
