| Just after sunrise, a UP eastbound thunders through Serpentine Canyon. The rock here is quite unstable, and slides are common. WP and now UP maintain slide fences to alert trains to rocks and slides on the right of way. Notice the trail of rock in front of the lead locomotive that reaches the river; it appears to be a slide that has since been cleared from the railroad. |
