BNSF intermodal trains meet at Herman, TX. Coming down the "stairs," or multiple hogbacks here, is 705 East, headed for Alliance Yard north of Ft. Worth. At left is U.S. 287, which runs all the way to Amarillo, and parallels the Wichita Falls Sub. This line is BNSF's main entry way into the sprawling DFW metroplex from the west.
