A New England rail tradition for many years was the February snow train excursion over the Boston & Maine between Boston and North Conway, NH, that was sponsored by the Boston chapter of the Railroad Enthusiasts (now Mass Bay RRE). This 1969 edition, consisting of five B&M RDCs, paused for a photo stop at Mount Whittier on the Conway branch. Four years later this middle section of the branch was abandoned, although the north end remains in 2018 as the Conway Scenic Railroad and the south end is now the New Hampshire Northcoast.
