Remarks & Notes |
An eastbound coal train has just exited the east portal of the Moffat Tunnel. The tunnel was finished in 1928 and is 24 feet high, 18 feet wide, and 6.2 miles long over the continental divide. The apex of the tunnel is at 9,239 feet high. Back in 1999 SP-AC power was still common on these train that were usually DP-ed in the middle and on the end. From here the train will drop down grade all the way to Denver. |
