Top Ten of 2017. With 2017 in the books, here's a look back at my Top 10 favorite shots from the past year. 10. A major factor in choosing a location to view the total solar eclipse in August 2017 was to incorporate some railfanning into the trip, just so it wasn't a long drive to stare at the sun for a few hours. While on our way to our chosen eclipse viewing location in Missouri, we were able to spend a day and a half checking out the endangered searchlight signals on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision between Joliet and Galesburg, Illinois. After slowing momentarily, BNSF 4572 East slowly accelerates through the Edelstein interlocking, as BNSF 7607 East in the distance rapidly overtakes the slower train.
