The East Coast was in the midst of quite the deep freeze, with temperatures not reaching above freezing for nearly 2 weeks. The word was going around that a "Bomb Cyclone" was set to hit much of the coast, and it did just that. While in Central Virginia things stayed relatively calm, the coast got slammed pretty hard. Seen here at Doswell in the early morning hours of January 4th, loaded coal train N753 heads south. This train is bound for Newport News, but wouldn't make it out of Richmond for another 3 days due to the effects of the storm in NPN.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
