| In January 1997, Amtrak train No. 35 approaches UP's concrete bridge over the Mojave River. The passenger train from Chicago rocks through a crossover as it comes up out of the yard and onto the bridge approach. Right behind the westbound Desert Wind is a UP Hanjin stack train, which will cross the river on the far track. In the distance are the highly eroded Calico Mountains, site of the Calico Ghost Town. |
