The New 7000
Inman bound NS 275 (Louisville,KY-Atlanta,GA) slowly eases down the south-end of Howardsville grade on the NS Atlanta North-End with a pair of rebuilt thoroughbred motors in charge of the "short train." The vehicle train will have to come to a stop in Cohutta, GA because of CT-Dispatcher trying to handle other issues on it's now new extended territory the CNO&TP 2nd District. NS 7000 really doesn't have any glamour other than the Crescent Cab that is installed on a SD60 body. 7000 is pretty much one out of 136 of these SD60E's that has become part of the wide cab generation of modern locomotives, but the Class number itself has some significant. To the older generation of rail enthusiast who remember the Southern Ry and early days of Norfolk Southern the number 7000 use to belong to the unique GP40X which was popular to the rail enthusiast community. Well times has change and the high hood days has long since past, and it is now the new generation of safety cab mainline railroading! "Boy don't we all missed the HH GP40X!?!
