Over 30 inches of snow blanketed parts of western Kansas in late December 2007. When winds combine with a snowstorm, cuts on a great plains railroad soon become full of the white stuff. Soon after the storm ended on January 2, 2007, Kyle railroad dispatched a wedge plow west out of Colby, Kansas. In this view, Kyle plow MWK 06 (former Santa Fe) is pushed along by two CEFX EMD SD45T-2s, still in nice Southern Pacific paint, just west of Colby. Later this day at Kanorado, Kansas, this train derailed, with the plow later scrapped because of the wreck.
