Remarks & Notes |
Winter storm Niko dumped about a foot and a half of snow on the NJ Transit system. The results of the storm can be seen here as the Hogback Bridge carries NJ Transit Arrow III No. 1384 leading M&E train 417 over the North Branch of the Raritan River. The "new" Hogback Bridge is a through truss bridge located on NJ Transit's Gladstone Line over the North Branch of the Raritan River at Far Hills, NJ. Back in February of 2004, the new bridge was staged right next to the old one and was sitting on a ball bearing mechanism to simply slide the new bridge into place. While the project preparation took a few years, the bridge was physically cut out and replaced by iron workers overnight. |
