Remarks & Notes |
The Alaska Railroad has a little used branch in Healy, AK that serves the Usibelli coal mine which sees service maybe 3 or 4 times a year. 3006 is seen drifting down the 1% grade on the Suntrana Branch. The warm backlighting disguising the brutally cold negative 26 degrees. Not to mention the 25 MPH wind that is all but hidden in this view. I felt sorry for the conductor riding the point, 4 miles at 10 MPH made for a slow cold journey to spot one car. Luckily on the return trip he could ride in the cab. |
