The Pennsylvania Railroad's No. 4890 (Altoona-GE, March, 1940) was looking pretty good here at the B&O Museum in 1991. Author Karl R. Zimmermann, in his book "The Remarkable GG1" said of this paint scheme, "A subsequent simplification of the large keystones [as seen here] somewhat damaged the impact of this flashy scheme, which might in retrospect be called one of the last bold gestures the Pennsy made." This locomotive is now stored indoors at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin; it has been repainted in the PRR Tuscan Red pinstripe scheme.
