Overnight on February 6, 2007, moisture-laden air settled in over the Heber valley in Utah. Dense fog greeted early morning light and as the sun rose, it finally began burning through the lifting clouds, revealing objects that only moments before were shrouded in obscurity. Barely visible, and audibly disturbing the serenity of the scene, Union Pacific 2-8-0 No. 618 storms past with a freight train operated by the Heber Valley Railroad.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
