Canadian Pacific EMD SD40-2F No. 9006 leads an eastbound train at East Mission, British Columbia, on September 26, 2001. These custom-built cowled machines were built exclusively for CP more than two years after the last SD40-2s were built. Built by EMD (GMD in London, Ont.) in November 1988, these 25 units were numbered 9000-9024 and later earned the nickname “red barns.”
