Remarks & Notes |
The 13 mile climb out of the Mississippi River Valley west of Marquette can be a tough pull if the trains have alot of tonnage for the Mason City Cornlines. Today's B39 has 46 loads and 97 empties and a bulk of those loads are the gons full of rock on the headend for Everly, IA. All 3 GE's pound the grade as they past MP 11. As the train makes this big swing, the tracks straighten out, but the grade gets steeper to Monona. This is the Savanna to Mason City local.
