Remarks & Notes |
En route to another of their customers in Via Princessa Union Pacific's westbound 'Saugus' local rolls through Bermite Canyon in Santa Clarita, CA. This location between Saugus and Honby on the former Southern Pacific Saugus Line was once a munitions testing and manufacturing site, now under clean up due to contamination issues. On the point is Union Pacific 1375 (ex-SP 3199) one of three former SP GP40P-2s purchased for commute operations on the San Francisco Peninsula in the 1970s. The very unique EMD's days of heading up commuter trains has since passed however it does find itself dodging Metrolink commute schedules as the Saugus goes about their work. |
