One of the tightest 1 meter gauge curve with cogwheel, the Ruckhalden curve of the Apenzeller Bahnen between St.Gallen and Riethüsli, with a radius of 30 meter. This was one of the last days of operation, a new tunnel will replace this section of the line from next autumn. In the meantime there is a bus substitute service. Cogwheel railcar BDeh 4/4 # 13 has a publicity paint scheme for "Appenzeller", an alcoholic drink whose recipe remains in family ownership to this day. Only the ingredients are known – 42 different herbs and spices.
