The southbound Amtrak Vermonter train on April 17 utilized New England Central Railroad SD40M-2 3476 as a leader after the windshield was damaged on Amtrak P42-9 109. The freight unit was swapped out at Springfield, MA when the southbound Vermonter handed it off to the northbound Vermonter #56. The NECR 3476 was tied on the rear of the passenger train for the trip from Springfield, MA to St. Albans, Vermont and is seen crossing the White River on the Central Vermont-lettered bridge at Sharon, Vermont.
