Remarks & Notes |
BDZ "Mother Bear" steam locomotive 2-12-4T #46.03 is pulling a freight train between Momchilgrad and Podkova. There were only 20 steam engines with this wheel arrangement in Europe: 12 engines -including 46.03- were built by Cegielski in Poznan (Poland) in 1931 and 8 were built by Schwarzkopf in Berlin in 1943. They were originally designed to haul heavy coal trains on lines with steep gradients. 46.03 has been operational again since May 2015. |
