CSX M772-11 shoot south down the main track through the town of Murfreesboro, TN with a line of cars heading for the east siding track where the local job will drop the cars off, and head back to the depot and tied down for the morning. Cabooses are a rare sight these days with technology advancing in modern railroading, but you can still find Cabooses in service not on road freights like it use to be, but on local service or special moves. Seen here on the old Southland Brick & Block lead, a former Conrail extended vision caboose is far from it's home territory in the northeast, has in the past few years for it's home in Murfreesboro, and is now being use today by the crew of the Murfreesboro local job M772. The Cab has seen some better days, and with all it's windows, and doors welded over the caboose is only used as a shoveling platform. Photo from the C. Bamberg Collection.
