The Autumn Glory Special, sponsored by the Baltimore Chapter/NRHS and Railtours of America, Inc. on September 29, 1984, ran from Camden Station/Baltimore to Oakland, MD via B&O’s Washington, Metropolitan, Cumberland and Mountain Subdivisions.
Here, at Oakland, the power prepares to run around its train for the return trip. The lead unit is MDOT F9PH 7183. The second unit, Chessie System/B&O GP30 6918, had earlier been subbed in at Brunswick for a GP9 that was experiencing some compatibility problems with the F9s. The third unit is MDOT F9PH 7185.
During subsequent (1988-90) overhauls, MDOT F9PHs 7183 and 7185 would be re-painted/numbered to MARC 83 and 85, respectively.
Photos of North America's favorite First Generation locomotives. EMD, ALCO, Baldwin; essentially anything that represents the OG wide cab diesel locomotive
