The "STEAM WORLD" tells part of ancient history, where most of the machines were steam powered. It is a kind of "museum" of all the steam equipment used all over the world.
On October 22, 1895, the Granville - Paris Express was carrying 131 passengers. The train was composed of twelve wagons pulled by locomotive number 721. The moment was approaching from Montparnasse station in Paris, with excessive speed, the driver failed to stop the train. The locomotive broke down the ramparts of the end of the line, crossed the terrace, destroyed part of the facade of the station and dropped from a height of ten meters. The only fatal victim was Marie-Augustine Aguilard, owner of a small newsstand at the site. It was one of the most spectacular rail accidents in the history of France.
