Remarks & Notes |
It is a glorious day on the South Devon coast as first production HST power car 43002 heads west through the classic location at Teignmouth with the 07:27 London Paddington - Plymouth. Entering service in 1976 the InterCity 125 HST's are due to be replaced on front line InterCity duties this year by new Intercity Express trains from Hitachi. 43002 has been re-painted into it's original livery and named 'Sir Kenneth Grange' to commemorate the train's designer. Great Western Railway will retain a small number of 'shortened' HST's for local work while the majority of the fleet will move north to Scotland.
