Remarks & Notes
Scanned image (original on Kodachrome - camera used was a Voitlander Vitomatic) © Lindsay Bridge from The Lindsay Bridge Vintage South African Railways Collection and submitted here with permission. Changing locomotives and the magnificent original pre-war clerestory roofed version of the Blue Train and the flagship of the fantastic South African Railways mainline passenger service. Lindsay was a passenger on the THE 3OTH ANNIVERSARY BLUE TRAIN SPECIAL (1969), a 100% steam hauled special from Johannesburg to Cape Town (and return), and what a fantastic view & scene he was presented with here! Changing locomotives at Touws River Station. Class 25C, No. 3496, has just come off the train, and Class 23, No.2567, is ready to reposition and couple up to take the train on its final leg to Cape Town.
