On an fall morning, Boston & Maine GP18s 1754 and 1850 and two GP9s roll west through Shirley, MA, with train BASE (Bangor, ME, to Rotterdam Jct., NY, via MEC/B&M). It was unusual by this time to see this train with a solid set of older power. I almost wrote "first generation power" there, but on the B&M GP9s and GP18s represented the railroad's second generation of road diesels, replacing traded-in EMD FTs and BL2s respectively.
