The B&M Lives!
Well...just barely. BO-1 is the last Boston based local freight for B&M successor Pan Am Railways. Here they can be seeing working Boston Sand and Gravel between FX and Tower A with a battle worn Guilford geep.
This work is normally performed under the cover of darkness by train DOBO/BODO with New Hampshire Northcoast power. But that train derailed coming into the yard the prior day leading to this extremely rare photo opportunity.
To the right can be seen the markers on an inbound MBTA train receding to its destination of North Station only a mile away, while directly above the locomotive can be seen the 1915 Custom House tower - the city's tallest building for nearly 50 years. The towering cranes harken to ever more impending change to the cities' skyline.
