Nearing the end of its year-long lease to the MBTA for Boston commuter service, Delaware & Hudson PA 16 speeds through Weston, MA, westbound on a long summer evening with Boston-Framingham train 453. The first of the F40s that would replace the PAs arrived the following month and they were returned to the D&H, which in turn shipped them to Mexico.
The 70's and 80's were a transition period for the MBTA characterized by an eclectic mix of equipment including Budd RDC's, ex-New Haven stainless steel coaches, and a mix of motive power acquired from various railroads.
