Remarks & Notes |
I last visited the Royal Gorge Railroad in the summer of 2011. The train was pulled by the staple F7 unit back then so I must say I was a bit surprised when neither engine on our train was an F7. 403 (one of the two F7's) was parked directly behind our train at the end, but unfortunately didn't come on the trip with us. The train was an impressive 15 cars long, so maybe the F7's just can't deal with that weight. It's really too bad though that this new locomotive does not have a matching paint scheme. This photo was taken at a time that the train normally would never be there. About 20 minutes into our journey on the 12:30pm train we stopped because the entire train lost power. I should have realized it when it started getting warm and the fans had stopped in our club car. They spent some time trying to get the backup generator to work, but to no avail. So we ended up going back into the station. A lot of refunds were given and some of us stuck it out until the 3:30 train. Thankfully we were able to get on the 3:30 train with our same seats which ran more smoothly. |
